About this tool
Habit Tracker
Habit Tracker records daily habits with a seven-day completion grid per habit, stored in your browser with no account.
How to use it
- Add the habits you want to track.
- Mark each one as you complete it.
- Read the seven-day grid to see the pattern.
Why the visible record works
Tracking works through two mechanisms. The record itself provides feedback that memory does not, since people consistently overestimate how often they did something. And an unbroken run becomes something you are reluctant to break, which is a small but genuine source of motivation.
The failure mode is well documented: missing one day rarely matters, missing two starts a new pattern. The useful rule is never miss twice, which keeps a lapse from becoming the new default.
When it helps
- Building a new routine with visible feedback.
- Seeing honestly how often you actually do something.
- Tracking several habits without an app or a subscription.
- Spotting which day of the week you consistently miss.
Common mistakes
- Tracking too many habits at once. Two or three succeed far more often than ten.
- Abandoning the whole system after one missed day. The record is information, not a verdict.
- Tracking something you cannot do daily, which guarantees gaps and makes the grid meaningless.
What this tool handles
- Stored in your browser only. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing site data will clear your history.
