Hype Machine rewrites something mundane as if it were extraordinary.
How to use it
- Type something ordinary.
- Read the inflated version.
The joke underneath it
The humour works because inflated language is instantly recognisable and entirely detached from substance. Applied to something genuinely mundane, the mismatch is the joke.
It also demonstrates something real about writing: intensifiers and superlatives carry almost no information. A description that would sound identical whether the underlying thing was excellent or trivial is not telling the reader anything.
Worked example
What the exaggeration removes:

Result: The inflated version would read identically whether the underlying thing was remarkable or trivial, which is the point.
When it helps
- Amusing yourself with the gap between what happened and how it could be described.
- Writing a deliberately over-the-top caption.
- A quick joke for a group chat.
- Recognising the register of marketing copy by seeing it applied to nothing.
Common mistakes
- Using the output as actual marketing copy. The reason it is funny is the reason it does not work.
- Expecting it to improve writing. It does the opposite, deliberately.
